First Class - Never Too Late to Study

The emotions, sacrifices and dedication it took for me to get this far is a testament to how much of a role model I intend to be for my children. During my last pregnancy I made a big decision to change careers from working in the further education sector and transition into secondary teaching. What this meant is that I'd have to have a degree in the subject I've so fondly come to love even more since High School - English. Back to Uni I went. A 38 year old with 10 months and 9 year old girls. Don't get me wrong, I had my fair share of being mentally and physically drained and felt at times that I wouldn't be able to make it to my final year. I prayed, my friends prayed and my family prayed with me. Guess what! I did it! I made it!

I thank God for carrying me. I thank my 3 main girls for pushing and supporting me. Thank you Amanda, Patricia and Thelma. I thank my sister in Jamaica, apart from nagging me with her school work, for always reminding me about the strength I have. Thank you Savita. I thank my mummy for checking on me to make sure my health was in check (trust me, I've been gravely ill). Thank you mummy Marian😘. I thank my beautiful girls for having the patience to deal with the times when I wasn't fully attentive to their wants (not needs😊) and for being my motivation to continue to want to work in education. Thank you Teyana and Leigh-Ann. I thank my husband for trying to be as supportive as he can in his own way. Thank you Ransford. I thank Pauline, Fiona, Sasha and Charis for assisting with my final dissertations, even at the last second. I thank all the tutors that have pushed and motivated me over the last three years. Thank you Anna, Paul, James, David, Adam and Billy. I thank all those who have offered encouraging words and thoughts, they helped.

Lastly, I thank my late grandmother for encouraging and inspiring me to write and to become this tenacious and resilient individual I am today. Thank you nanny (RIP😒).

I'm on a mission. It will be a challenging journey. There are no buts and no ifs. I will succeed.
